About Twitter
Twitter is a 'micro-blogging site'. Essentially this means that you can post short blogs (140 characters) which are instantly made available to all your 'followers'. It is easy to use and very easy to update. You can update from the Twitter site at www.twitter.com or via your mobile phone. Twitter has many applications written on it and your web designer can easily add a Twitter feed to your website to allow your Twitter posts to update your website automatically.

The large volume of information being entered in to Twitter has created some envy from the major search engines (Google, Yahoo and Bing) as it offers something that even they may have overlooked. Google has admitted that Twitter's ability to offer 'real time search is an area in which they have fallen behind.
It is has created it's own world
Just as Google entered our language, with phrases, such as 'Googling' someone or being 'googled' so has Twitter, with it's own language (e.g. 'Tweets' and 'Followers'. The sheer volume of Twitter applications being built hints at its longevity. It also has future plans for video and many other features and some analysts suggest that it could be a serious challenger to Google.
Should you be on Twitter?
A lot of webmasters and businesses have jumped on the Twitter bandwagon, without really asking why?
There are many ways to Market your business, newspapers, Email marketing, or paid search, Twitter may not suitable for everyone.
But you should give Twitter serious considerations as twitter (which its large venture capital funding) is now firmly established as a major source of traffic for websites, a revenue generator for supporting businesses and is certainly a key source of data for the major search engines. For these reasons we feel it is not just another web fad that will be here today, gone tomorrow.
