Google is continuing it’s push to make the web more friendly
In a recent Google Webmaster Central Blog post Google re-iterated the view that getting accurate and relevant answers when searching shouldn’t be dependent on the device used.
Searches on phone, tablet or desktop, should provide the best answer.
In 2015 Google started using ‘mobile friendliness‘ as a ranking signal on mobile searches.
As of this month – May 2016 – Google will be rolling out an update to mobile search results that increases the power of the ranking signal to help users find searches that are both relevant and mobile friendly.
How does this affect existing mobile friendly websites?
Websites that are already mobile friendly will not be affected by this update.
