This step is necessary for a website.
It is a common myth that if you create a website that it will automatically appear in Google (or other search engines)
Google crawls websites (but not all websites) and determines which pages to add to its index.
Only web pages that are indexed will appear in searches on Google.
Your website has 20 pages about your business, products and services.
You submit a sitemap to Google and then they crawl your website and ‘decide’ which pages if any are added to its index.
Google decides that of the 20 pages that it will index 5.
Only those 5 pages will be ‘findable’ when someone searches for your business, products or services.
As you can see 15 pages have not been indexed and so cannot be found.
A successful website requires as many of its pages to be found in Google as possible.
What is initial SEO?
Initial SEO is what we call the initial setup of your website, creation of a sitemap and submitting it to Google for indexing.
We report back on the findings and outline the next steps needed to index all pages.
Google continues to monitor your website and will crawl repeatedly over time.
In Google Search Console you will see the updated results on how your pages are performing and if Google has decided to index them.
Initial SEO forms the basis of any subsequent SEO Campaign that you may run.
